What is Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa for Professionals in Thailand?

- High-Skilled Professional: Professionals or experts in targeted industries working for business entities or higher education institutes or research centers or specialized training institution in Thailand or Thai government agencies.
- Work from Thailand Professionals: Remote workers working for well established overseas companies.
- Wealthy Global Citizens: Wealthy individuals holding at least USD 1 million in assets.
- Wealthy Pensioners: Retirees aged 50 years and above who have an annual pension or stable passive income.
- Dependents: Spouse, parents, same-sex marriage and partnerships and child under 20 years old of LTR visa holders.

Qualifications and criteria | How to get you LTR visa approval quickly and easily!
The LTR visa is available to individuals in categories eligibly that applicants generally need to meet the following criteria.
Highly Skilled Professionals
Personal Income:
- A minimum average personal income of USD 80,000 per year for the past 2 years OR
- An average personal income of at least USD 40,000 per year for the 2 years AND hold a Master’s degree or higher in science and technology.
- No minimum personal income is required for professionals working for Thai government agencies.
Current Employer: Must be one of the following:
- A business in any of the targeted industries.
- A higher education institution, research, specialized training institution or Thai government agencies.
Targeted Industries and Expertise Areas:
The LTR visa program focuses on attracting professionals in crucial industries for Thailand’s economic development.
- Automotive Industry
- Electronics Industry
- Affluent Tourism Industry
- Agriculture, food, and biotechnology Industry
- Transportation and logistics Industry
- Automation and robotics Industry
- Aviation, aerospace, and space Industry
- Biofuels and bio-chemical industry

Experience: No work experience requirement and the eligibility has been expanded to academic professors across all fields.
Health Insurance: Must coverage of at least USD 50,000 per year or social security benefits covering medical treatment in Thailand or maintain a deposit of at least USD 100,000 in a Thai or overseas bank account for the past 12 months.

Work-from-Thailand Professionals
Personal Income:
- A minimum average personal income of USD 80,000 per year for the past 2 years OR
- An average personal income of at least USD 40,000 per year for the 2 years AND hold a Master’s degree or higher OR
- Evidence of full and complete ownership of intellectual property OR Evidence of the receiving series A funding of no less than 1 million USD.
Current Employer: Must be one of the following:
- A public company listed on a stock exchange.
- A private company revenue exceeding 50 million USD from the last 3 years(a wholly owned subsidiary may use its parent company’s financials).
- A wholly owned subsidiary of a public company listed on a stock exchange OR a wholly subsidiary (100% shareholding) of a parent company.
Experience: No work experience requirement.
Health Insurance: Must coverage of at least USD 50,000 per year or social security benefits covering medical treatment in Thailand or maintain a deposit of at least USD 100,000 in a Thai or overseas bank account for the past 12 months.

Wealthy Global Citizen
Investment in Thailand: Invest a minimum of USD 500,000 in either Thai government bonds at least 5 years, direct investments in Thai companies, Thai property or ownership of a Thai apartment/condo in the applicant’s name (including owning a villa or a land lease).
Worldwide Assets: Evidence of global assets ownership of no less than 1 million USD in the applicant’s name.
Personal Income: No personal income requirement.
Health Insurance: Must coverage of at least USD 50,000 per year or social security benefits covering medical treatment in Thailand or maintain a deposit of at least USD 100,000 in a Thai or overseas bank account for the past 12 months.

Wealthy Pensioners
The retirees must be aged 50 years and over (on the day of submitting application).
Passive Income:
- A minimum average unearned or passive income of USD 80,000 per year OR
- An average passive income of at least USD 40,000 per year with additional investments of USD 250,000 combined in Thai government bonds at least 5 years, direct investments in Thai companies, Thai property or ownership of a Thai apartment/condo in the applicant’s name.
Health Insurance: Must coverage of at least USD 50,000 per year or social security benefits covering medical treatment in Thailand or maintain a deposit of at least USD 100,000 in a Thai or overseas bank account for the past 12 months.

Dependents
Major Requirements for Dependents of LTR Visa Holders:
- The eligibility accommodated has been expanded to include the legitimate spouse, a same-sex legalized marriage, children under 20 years old, parents, and legal dependents.
- No limit on the number of dependents.
- Evidence of family relationships (e.g., marriage certificate, birth certificate)
Health Insurance: Must coverage of at least USD 50,000 per year or social security benefits covering medical treatment in Thailand or maintain a deposit of at least USD 100,000 in a Thai or overseas bank account for the past 12 months.

How to Apply for LTR Visa
The following is a step-by-step guide with instructions to navigate the visa application process smoothly.
Step 1: Submit Your Application Online
• Register and create an account on the official LTR Visa online system.
• Complete the online application form.
• Upload the required supporting documents.
• Note: The dependent need to create separate accounts and the main applicant must link their applications.
Step 2: Qualifications Endorsement
• Your application and supporting documents will be verified by relevant Thai government agencies (Board of Investment, Immigration, etc.).
• The processing time for the qualification endorsement is typically 20 business days from the date all complete documents are received.
• You may be contacted to provide additional information or documents during this stage.
• You will receive an email notification regarding the outcome of your application.
Step 3: Visa Issuance
• When your qualification is approved, you will receive an endorsement letter.
• You must then apply for the LTR Visa itself within 60 days of the endorsement letter issuance.
• You can proceed with applying for LTR visa issuance depending on either options:
1. If you are outside Thailand, you will need to apply for e-Visa at Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate-General in particular country.
2. Thailand Investment and Expat Services Center (TIESC)
• The processing fee for the 10 years multiple-entry visa is THB 50,000 per person when collecting the LTR Visa in Thailand. (Fees may vary if collecting it overseas.)
Step 4: Digital Work Permit (If Applicable)
• If you intend to work in Thailand (excluding Work-from-Thailand Professionals), you must apply for a digital work permit after receiving your LTR Visa.
• This can be done through the LTR Visa application system.
• There is an annual fee of THB 3,000 for the digital work permit.
